Potato early blight is one of the most widespread and economically significant crop diseases, causing significant yield reductions and deterioration in product quality. In the face of climate change and rising average daily temperatures, the prevalence of the disease in Russia's main potato-growing regions continues to increase, necessitating improvements to existing plant protection systems. The aim of this study was to summarize and analyze current domestic and international research on the biology of the pathogen, disease development, and current approaches to limiting its harmfulness. This paper examines the key factors influencing the spread of potato early blight, as well as the role of varietal resistance, mineral nutrition, and agronomic practices in reducing the disease's development. Particular attention is paid to current data on the development of Alternaria solani resistance to QoI (FRAC 11) and SDHI (FRAC 7) fungicides, the mechanisms of cross- and multiple resistance, and the principles of developing anti-resistance protection programs. The potential for using biological products based on Trichoderma spp. fungi, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens bacteria, and chitosan-based products and their derivatives as components of integrated plant protection systems is analyzed. It is shown that the most effective solutions are achieved through the combined use of resistant, regionalized varieties, appropriate mineral nutrition, modern fungicides with consideration of their mechanisms of action, and biological control agents. A conclusion is reached regarding the feasibility of transitioning to integrated potato protection systems aimed at reducing infection pressure, decreasing chemical load, and slowing the development of fungicide resistance in the pathogen.
