The conditions, prerequisites, state and prospects for the development of vegetable growing in the Voronezh region are given. The implementation of the Russian Food Security Doctrine, the presence of energy, financial, legislative, natural, and industry organizations are fundamental components of the development of vegetable growing in the Voronezh region. At the end of December 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia held a number of events with the agricultural authorities of the regions of the country to increase in 2022 in the structure of acreage of vegetable wedge and potato crops. More than 80% of the territory of the Voronezh region consists of chernozems, the land fund of the region has 5.22 million ha, of which agricultural lands occupy 88.8%. The annual volume of production of open-ground vegetables in the region is 410–430 thousand tons. In 2021, 636.2 thousand tons of potatoes were produced in the Voronezh region, the total area of harvesting is 46.1 thousand ha. In 2022, the expected area of planting vegetables in farms and agricultural enterprises is 3.2 thousand hectares. Cultivars for the Central Chernozem Region are bred at the Voronezh Vegetable Experimental Station - branch of the FSBSI Federal Research Vegetable Centre. In 2021, the following varieties are in the state variety testing: carrot variety Voronezhskiy Delikates, tomato variety Allur Yubileinyi, white cabbage variety Present, in 2020–2021 varieties: red beet variety Voronezhskaya Yubileinaya, tomato variety Bukharovets, onion variety Voronezhets. 101 varieties of vegetable and flower crops are included in the State Register of the Russian Federation. Based on the above conditions of the prospects for the development of vegetable growing in the Voronezh region, it is possible to draw a conclusion about the prevailing favorable conditions for the development of the industry in the modern period.
