The article presents the features of methods for determining the varietal qualities of seeds in various countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The significant differences between the existing methods of testing varietal crops, methods of soil control used in the EAEU countries are shown. Various documents confirming the varietal qualities of seeds are used within the EAEU countries. In order to unify the methods used in the EAEU countries for determining the varietal qualities of seeds, uniform «Methods for testing seed crops of agricultural plants» and «Methods for conducting soil control» have been created for the EAEU member states. These methods came into effect on January 1, 2022. From this moment on, all batches of seeds intended for circulation within the EAEU are subject to testing and soil control in accordance with new methods. They are unified and designed to assess the varietal qualities of seeds of all crops, contain information about the minimum permissible requirements for varietal purity of seeds of agricultural plants, standards of spatial isolation, weeds taken into account. They contain samples of documents used in the testing of crops and soil control of batches of seeds of agricultural plants and the registration of their results. These methods were approved by the decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission No. 10 on January 30, 2020. This agreement came into effect on January 1, 2022. From this moment on, all batches of seeds of all agricultural crops intended for circulation within the EAEU are subject to testing and soil control in accordance with new methods.
