Leafy greens are among the most widely consumed vegetables, and they are an important part of the overall healthy human diet. Increasing the production of leafy vegetables will be facilitated by the growing demand for environmentally friendly and organic products for proper and healthy nutrition. In the State Register of Breeding achievements approved for use in 2023 in the territory of the Russian Federation, leaf and salad crops include 13 families, 51 species and more than 1,500 varieties. An overview of the size and trends of the green crops market in the world and Russia is presented: dill, parsley, coriander, arugula. The characteristic of vertical agriculture is given. Various packaging materials and their effectiveness for preserving the quality of greenery are characterized. According to experts, the growth of leafy vegetable production will stimulate the development and modernization of domestic greenhouse complexes through the large-scale introduction and use of modern agricultural technologies and equipment, improvement of soil cultivation methods and growing conditions. The main growth factors of the global leafy vegetable seed market are an increase in demand for food production, followed by an increase in demand for leafy vegetable seeds. However, the lack of awareness among farmers and the high cost of leafy vegetable seeds can negatively affect the market, so the leading opportunity for market development is to increase people's awareness of health. In addition, the key trends for the market are the modernization of agriculture and the introduction of innovative methods in seed production. The main market players are mainly focused on research and development for the production of seeds of new varieties that have high yields and resistance to stress factors. In addition, companies use biotechnological tools for breeding.
